PDP NWC Set To Review Rivers State Caretaker Committee List Amid Arguments

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) has committed to reassessing the Rivers State Caretaker Committee list, which has caused disagreements between Governor Similaye Fubura and former Governor Nyesom Wike.

Nation Post understands that this resolution was made following a discussion between the party’s governors and the NWC in Abuja, prior to the Caucus meeting held in Abuja on Wednesday evening.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, announced the decision taken during the meeting.

He said, “The issue of the Rivers State Caretaker Committee List was raised at the meeting of the PDP Governors and the PDP National Working Committee (NWC), and it was resolved that a political solution should be applied to resolve all the issues related thereto.

“Consequently, the PDP Governors’ Forum directed that the PDP National Working Committee revisit the issue of the Rivers State Caretaker Committee List.”

Meanwhile, after the conclusion of the meeting on Wednesday night, Ologunagba released a statement informing that the National Caucus of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed its confidence in Acting National Chairman Umar Iliya Damagum.

The vote of confidence was intended to promote reconciliation and unity within the party. Ologunagba further mentioned that the caucus had instructed the party management to establish a discipline and reconciliation committee to mend relationships among all members.

As a result of this decision, Damagum will continue to serve in his position until the next National Executive Council (NEC) meeting following today.

Ologunagba added that today’s NEC meeting will not affect leadership change until the party’s next national convention.

“NEC meeting will not discuss any change in leaders. Rather, attention is focused on unity and reconciliation

“Caucus agreed that all congresses in the states and local government should be concluded between June and August this year.

“Caucus agreed on the extension of the constitution review committee of the party to accept new recommendations,” Ologunagba stated.
