APC Speaks On Suspending Nasir El-Rufai Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

The Kaduna chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has refuted any claims of intending to suspend Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of the state.

Nation Post understands that the party was reacting to viral speculations suggesting that El-Rufai would face suspension from the ruling party due to alleged anti-party activities.

However, Salisu Wusono, the spokesperson for the APC in Kaduna, cleared the air about these speculations on Tuesday evening.

In a concise response to journalists, Wusono categorically dismissed the alleged plan to suspend the party chieftain, affirming that the party leadership has no such intention.

“Nothing like this,” Wusono affirmed.

It is important to highlight that El-Rufai was recently spotted alongside Abdul Ningi, a senator who faced suspension for his allegations regarding the ₦3 trillion padding in the 2024 budget.

Furthermore, El-Rufai made a visit to the headquarters of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Abuja.

These visits have sparked discussions both online and offline, with many speculating about the former governor’s potential political intentions. In response to these speculations, the national chair of the SDP, Shehu Gabam, emphasized that the visit should not be interpreted as having any political implications, as he has been acquainted with El-Rufai for a considerable period of time.

He said: “My relationship with Mallam Nasir el-Rufai predates 1999. I knew him long before then, and we have been close.

“Coming to the SDP secretariat, I don’t know why it is so special that people misinterpret or interpret how it suits them. There are a lot of politicians of the APC that have visited me, and other parties have visited me.

“Do not forget that not too long ago, Al Mustapha came to my office and people were speculating that he is decamping to SDP.

“Will you be surprised if President Bola Tinubu visits SDP? He knows me and I know him.”

It was evident that El-Rufai was instrumental in the formation of the APC prior to the 2015 elections.

Nevertheless, the Kaduna State House of Assembly has initiated an investigation into the “multi-million dollar loans” acquired during the El-Rufai administration.
