APC Chief Slams President Tinubu For Appointing Opposition Party Member As Amnesty Programme Boss

Emmanuel Ishaka, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, has expressed his disagreement with President Bola Tinubu’s selection of Dr Dennis Otuaro as the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

It is worth noting that Otuaro is a registered member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Hence, in a statement released on Tuesday, Ishaka emphasized that President Tinubu’s decision was misguided and that a significant number of APC members in Delta State were dissatisfied with this appointment.

The statement read, “We, the dedicated members of APC in Delta State, reject the appointment of Dennis Otuaro of the Peoples Democratic Party and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s protege as head of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

“We (APC) have very competent leaders in Delta State who are ready to project Mr. President’s renewed hope agenda to the fullest.

“Okowa and PDP in Delta State must not be allowed to reap where they did not sow.”

Ishaka urged President Tinubu to reconsider the appointment of Otuaro and select a qualified individual from his political party.

Efforts to reach Otuaro via calls and text messages regarding this matter went unanswered at the time of reporting.

In March 2024, Tinubu had appointed Otuaro to lead the PAP. Prior to this role, Otuaro held a high-ranking position at the Niger Delta Development Commission.

The primary goal of the PAP is to facilitate the rehabilitation and reintegration of former Niger Delta militants into society following their completion of skills and vocational training.
