Over Six Political Parties Meet In Kaduna To Unseat APC Ahead Of 2027 Election

Political parties in Kaduna State are already making moves to unseat the current ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

It was gathered that some political parties came together on Thursday to strategize on how to remove the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming poll.

The summit, reportedly organized by the African Democratic Congress, focused on the importance of a strong political party structure for the sustainability of the democratic process.

Representatives from the New Nigeria People’s Party, the People’s Redemption Party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, the Social Democratic Party, the KOWA Party, the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), and the Coalition of United Political Parties attended the event.

During the summit, Lawal Nalado, the chairman, expressed concern over the immense hardships faced by Nigerians nationwide. He emphasized that the purpose of the gathering was to address the multitude of challenges the nation is facing and find a way forward.

Nalado clarified that the summit was not intended to form a merger or coalition among the opposition parties. Instead, he stressed the need for these parties to engage with voters at the grassroots level, providing them with political enlightenment messages that can change their perception of politics.

He stressed that politics should not revolve around money, religion, or ethnicity but rather focus on electing the right candidates who can improve society’s social and economic well-being.

The National Chairman of PRP, Falalu Bello, emphasized the importance of effective mobilization of the electorates by opposition parties during his speech. He mentioned that simply fielding credible candidates was not sufficient to secure victory in elections, highlighting the significance of mass mobilization.

Representing Bello, Prof. Sule Muhammad, identified inadequate resources, lack of internal democracy, transparency issues, and interference by the ruling party as some of the challenges facing opposition parties in the country.

The chairman of ADC and IPAC Kaduna State, Ahmed Tujjani, expressed his view that the summit was organized to address socio-economic and political issues faced by parties and provide practical solutions.

According to him, “This is not a gathering for a merger or forming a coalition ahead of 2027 but rather a summit to discuss our common problems and suggest solutions of addressing them.

“We will call you again by tomorrow to read out our communique which will be a summary and possibly a mini-working document of solving our problems ahead of 2027.”
