Vladimir Putin Sworn In As Russian President For The Fifth Term

Vladimir Putin was sworn in on Tuesday for his fifth term as President of Russia in a grand ceremony at the Kremlin.

In the recent election, Putin emerged victorious with a significant majority, as two anti-war candidates were disqualified due to technical reasons.

Following the sudden death of his prominent opponent, Alexei Navalny, and the imprisonment or exile of other critics, Putin continues to maintain a stronghold on Russian politics.

Having been in power since the early 2000s, Putin secured another six-year term in office after winning the presidential election with no significant opposition.

While facing off against Western nations over the conflict in Ukraine, Putin emphasized the importance of maintaining dialogue with the West, albeit on equal terms, including discussions on strategic nuclear stability.

We are a united and great people and together we will overcome all obstacles, we will bring to life everything we have planned. Together, we will be victorious,” Putin said.

The inauguration ceremony held on Tuesday was boycotted by the United States, as they expressed their view that the re-election was not conducted in a free and fair manner.

Similarly, Britain, Canada, and several European Union nations also chose to boycott the swearing-in event. However, France made the decision to send its ambassador to attend the ceremony.
