How Unity Bank Empowers New Graduates With Grants

The Unity Bank entrepreneurship empowerment program known as Corpreneurship Challenge has supported over 400 new graduates In Nigeria.

The program which was launched five years ago is driving economic growth and supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs.

The Corpreneurship Challenge was flagged off and piloted in Abuja, Lagos, Edo and Ogun State. Although it was scaled up to ten(10) other states a year after.

The initiative features a business pitch presentation where potential beneficiaries provide their business plans and are given business grants.

The Unity Bank development initiative is in partnership with the NYSC, Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development(SAED). The prize money for grants was recently increased to 16 million Naira per stream.

This increase now provides for emerging winners the privilege to secure about N800,000, N500,000, and N300,000 Business grants for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions respectively.

While reviewing the impact of the project, Mr Olufunwa Akinmade, Divisional Head of Digital Banking and Fintech Partnerships, at Unity Bank explained that the program is a viable enterprise development and empowerment initiative.

He said, this is due to its high-level of success in supporting budding entrepreneurs in the target demographic, as well as the size of the problem it is designed to solve for the Nigerian economy.
