Ex-Kwara Lawmaker, Rafiu Ibrahim Is Dead

Rafiu Ibrahim, a former Senator of Kwara State, has been reported dead.

The former lawmaker died at the age of 57 following a short period of illness.

The family of the deceased confirmed this sad news in a statement issued to journalists on Wednesday morning, Nation Post understands.

The statement read, “We kindly request your prayers and support during this difficult time. His burial arrangements will be communicated in due course.

“We pray Allah forgives his shortcomings and grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus. Ameen.”

Ibrahim, born on the 12th of December, 1966, served as a senator representing the Kwara South Senatorial District in the eighth National Assembly, led by Senator Bukola Saraki.

He held the position of Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions.

The state Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, expressed his deep sorrow upon learning about Senator Rafiu Ibrahim‘s passing from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Governor was taken aback and saddened by the news of the lawmaker’s death following a short period of illness.

The governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, said, “I send my heartfelt condolences to the family of the late senator, the people of Ojoku in Oyun Local Government Area, and the Peoples Democratic Party on this sad development.

“This shocking development again reminds everyone of the inevitability of death for all human beings and the fact that it could come unannounced for anyone, according to the governor.”
