Tinubu Launches Nigeria’s Old National Anthem
Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced on Wednesday that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to the National Assembly was to launch the old National Anthem, “Nigeria We Hail Thee.”
He mentioned that the bill to revert Nigeria to the old National Anthem had been signed into law by the president earlier that day after being passed by both chambers of the National Assembly.
It was also stated that the president would not be giving an address to the joint session of the National Assembly as previously planned.
At the time of reporting, the president was being escorted into the chamber.
Tinubu, accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and other presidential aides, arrived at the chamber.
Upon Tinubu’s arrival, the old National Anthem, Nigeria We Hail Thee, was sung.
Other notable figures present at the joint session included the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje; Borno State governor, Prof Babagana Umara Zulum; former deputy Speaker Patricia Etteh; and former lawmakers.
