The father of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has passed away.

It was reported that Pa Suleiman Atanda Obasa, a successful businessman in the oil and gas and transportation sectors, died at the age of 83 in the early hours of Tuesday.

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Eromosele Ebhomele, it was revealed that Pa Obasa was not only a loving family man and community leader but also a devoted Muslim who dedicated his life to serving Allah and mankind.

He will be remembered for his success in farming and empowering many citizens. Pa Obasa is survived by his wives, children, and grandchildren, including the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

His burial will take place at 4 pm in the Agege area of Lagos State, in accordance with Islamic rites.

Confirming the sad development, the Secretary of the Orile Agege Local Council Development Area chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who doubles as the Special Adviser to the Speaker on Political and Legislative Affairs, Fatai Olagoke Ajibola, in a statement on Tuesday, said the late Obasa would be buried today according to Islamic rites.

“Late Alhaji Obasa will be buried this evening (Tuesday) in accordance with Islamic injunctions.

“The venue of the Janazah prayer will be communicated in due course,” Ajibola added.
