Court Grants Ex-CBN Gov, Godwin Emefiele Bail
An Ikeja Special Offences Court has granted Godwin Emefiele, the embattled former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), bail of 50 million naira, Nation Post reports.
Recall that Emefiele is facing a 26-count charge bordering on alleged abuse of office and fraud amounting to $4.5 billion and ₦2.8 billion.
During Friday’s bail ruling, Justice Rahman Oshodi approved Emefiele’s bail of ₦50 million with two sureties in like sum.
The judge mandated that the sureties must be employed and have paid taxes for three years to the Lagos State Government.
Additionally, the sureties must provide proper identification and be registered in the Lagos State Bail Management System.
Justice Oshodi expressed contentment with the N1 million bail conditions previously granted to Emefiele’s co-defendant, Henry Isioma-Omoil, as reported by The Nation.
He emphasized the necessity of transferring the bail documents to a special offenses court and ensuring registration in the Lagos State Bail Management System.
