President Tinubu Names Abuja Road After Professor Wole Soyinka
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has designated the major road N20, stretching from Northern Parkway to Outer Northern Expressway, ONEX, as the Professor Wole Soyinka Highway.
Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special advisor on Information and Strategy, shared this news on his official X account on Tuesday.
He explained that this honour was bestowed upon the road in recognition of Prof Soyinka’s pioneering achievement in African literature by becoming the first Nigerian to receive the Nobel Literature Prize.
“President Tinubu has named the Arterial Road N20 from Northern Parkway to Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX) as Professor Wole Soyinka Highway as recommended by the FCT administration. In naming the road after the distinguished playwright, poet and novelist who clocks 90 on 13 July, President Tinubu said Soyinka was the first African to win the Nobel Literature Prize. He said Soyinka has brought honour and fame to Nigeria”, Onanug noted.
According to him, the decision was recommended by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) under the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Recall that FCT minister, Wike commissioned several roads in Abuja to mark President Tinubu’s first anniversary.
