Ahmed Dangiwa linked to palliative rice diversion

Nigeria state security service has uncovered a ruthless corruption involving the diversion of subsidy palliatives by top government officials meant for vulnerable persons.

The Minister of Housing and Urban development, Ahmed Dangiwa was linked to the palliative diversion after he received 1200 bags of rice meant for the poor.

This confirmed in a distribution list with Ahmed Dangiwa a Minister of the federal Republic of Nigeria and was allocated 1200 bags meant for underserved communities.

According to reports, officials of State Security Service has confiscated 2000 bags of rice palliative stored away at the Central Market, Katsina state.

DSS has also immediately arrested the senior special adviser to Gov. Dikko Radda of Katsina state, Nasir Lawal who master minded the diversion.

Other government officials are been questioned in line with the yet missing 800bags of the palliative rice.

This dastardly act is happening at a time when Nigerians are dare need for food interventions.

Reports have it that the bags of rice palliative are been rebranded and sold in the market instead of distributing it freely to vulnerable Nigerians.

In the meantime, the Principal Private Secretary of Governor Dikko Radda explained that the minister had entrusted the bags to his aides, who stored them in a warehouse “for safekeeping.”

Addressing reporters in Katsina, the State Chairman of the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations, Abdur Rahman Abdullahi, described the scandal surrounding the distribution of the rice palliatives as alarming.

“It is deeply unfortunate and disturbing that officials tasked with distributing the federal government’s food assistance to vulnerable people would receive 20 trucks meant for Katsina State and fail to distribute it.

“It is even more distressing that some officials have already taken thousands of bags of rice to the market, rice intended for impoverished and vulnerable people amid the hunger and poverty plaguing the country.

“I commend the DSS for their diligent work in uncovering and investigating the officials involved in diverting food assistance.

“However, the Katsina State government should also establish a committee to investigate the alleged diversion of some of the rice trucks meant for distribution to disadvantaged people in Katsina State,” Abdullahi said
