Senegalese President Faye Visits Nigeria, Meets Tinubu At Aso Rock

Nigeria today received the presence of the newly sworn-in President of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

Nation Post reports that President Faye arrived in Abuja on Thursday and met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.

It is worth noting that the youngest president in Senegalese history won the delayed presidential election in April with more than 54 per cent of the votes.

President Faye, 44, arrived at the Villa’s forecourt at 3:09 p.m. on Thursday, making his inaugural visit to Nigeria since taking office last month.

President Tinubu Approves N90 Billion To Subsidize 2024 Hajj Pilgrimage Cost

In other news, during the inauguration of the 2024 National Hajj operation at the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, Vice President Kashim Shettima declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had sanctioned N90 billion to subsidize the expenses of the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage for Nigerian citizens.

Shettima further explained that the Federal Government faced challenges in determining the final hajj fare for the upcoming Muslim pilgrimage due to fluctuations in foreign exchange rates.

The VP said in order to ensure the well-being of Nigerian pilgrims, the incumbent government has diligently chosen individuals with impeccable integrity and a history of selfless commitment to oversee the affairs of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.

You may recall that this year, we had a major challenge in announcing the final hajj fare for the 2024 Muslim pilgrimage due to fluctuation in foreign exchange rates.

“President Bola Tinubu also works round the clock to control the downward spiral of our local currency to bring relief to our pilgrims and other Nigerians.

“A move that eventually succeeded in lowering the fare. The President approved the release of N90 billion to subsidize the cost of pilgrimage for this year’s hajj.

“Due to this high regard, the government took time to carefully select men of integrity with administrative acumen and records of selfless dedication to manage the affairs of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria in the interest of Nigerian pilgrims,” Shettima noted.

Shettima emphasized that the government, at the highest level, closely monitors all preparations made for the well-being of the nation’s pilgrims, both in Saudi Arabia and within the country, prior to their departure.

He further stated that the government is fully aware of the measures taken to ensure the safety, security, and comfort of the Nigerian contingent participating in the 2024 Hajj.

Shettima also highlighted the importance of our collective prayers and individual contributions to the prosperity of our nation.
