Residents of Sabon Garin Damri in Bakura Local Government Area, Zamfara State, are reeling from a brutal bandit attack that saw over 114 people abducted.

Speaking unbehalf of the residents,
,Ibrahim lawali damri on Tuesday said the assault has left the community in despair, with many fleeing their homes and abandoning their livelihoods.

He also accused Dauda Lawal of failing to address the escalating insecurity.

Damir said “During his 2023 campaign, Lawal promised to end Zamfara’s banditry crisis, criticizing his predecessor, Bello Matawalle, for inaction. Yet, locals say Matawalle’s administration showed more effort through security operations and peace initiatives.

“Under Lawal’s leadership, however, the security situation has deteriorated. Sabon Garin Damri and other villages face relentless attacks, with no visible state government strategy to counter the violence. Residents feel abandoned, left to endure the terror without meaningful support.

“Federal interventions, including troop deployments, have been insufficient without robust state-level action.

“The absence of a comprehensive security plan from Lawal’s administration has deepened the crisis, leaving communities vulnerable.

“We are demanding urgent action. Women, children, and the elderly bear the brunt of the violence, and fear grips the region.

“The Residents warn that without decisive leadership, Zamfara risks descending into chaos.”
