Rivers Crisis: ALGON Accuses Fubara Of Withholding Allocations

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) Rivers State Chapter has criticized Governor Siminalayi Fubara for allegedly withholding funds designated for the Local Governments.

Nation Post understands that Allwell Ihunda, the Chairman of Port Harcourt LGA, made these remarks on behalf of the group during a press conference in Port Harcourt.

He accused the governor of holding back allocations meant for the LGAs since April and March in the case of Emohua. Ihunda also claimed that the governor intended to misappropriate the LGA funds.

The group urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene and instruct Governor Fubara to release the funds to prevent a complete breakdown of law and order in Rivers State.

During the Q&A session, the Chairman of Andoni LGA mentioned that he plans to stay in office for 6 months after his term ends, as allowed by the revised Local Government law.
