Police Recruitment: PSC List Out 20 Centres For Medical Screening Of Candidates

As part of the evaluation process for the ongoing police recruitment, the Police Service Commission (PSC) has organized a medical screening for the successful and shortlisted applicants who have completed the computer-based tests conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB.

Nation Post reports that the Police Recruitment Board, established by the PSC, is facilitating the ongoing recruitment exercise for the Nigeria Police Force’s constable cadre.

The medical screening is one of the various stages implemented by the board to assess the suitability of the applicants for the job.

Prior to this, the applicants have already undergone physical and credentials screening, as well as the computer-based test. On April 16th, 2024, they will undergo the final screening, which is the medical examination. This medical screening will last two weeks.

For the convenience of the applicants, the board has designated twenty centres across different zones for medical screening.

Nation Post reports that these centres include Police Cottage Hospital Bompai in Kano for Zone 1, Police College Ikeja in Lagos for Zone 2, Police Clinic Yola in Yola for Zone 3, Police Clinic Makurdi in Makurdi for Zone 4, Police Cottage Hospital Benin in Benin for Zone 5, and Police Hospital Calabar in Calabar for Zone 6. Additionally, there are centres in Zone 7, Abuja, and MD Abubakar Police Hospital Dei Dei, Abuja.

Others are Zone 8 Lokoja, Police Clinic, Lokoja; Zone 9 Umuahia, Police Hospital Umuahia; Zone 10 Sokoto, PTS Clinic Sokoto; Zone 11 Osogbo, Police Hospital Osogbo; Zone 12 Bauchi, PTS Clinic Bauchi; Zone 13 Ukpo, Police Hospital Awka; Zone 14 Katsina, Ibrahim Coomassie Cottage Hospital Katsina; Zone 15 Maiduguri, Police College, Maiduguri; and Zone 16 Headquarters Yenagoa.

The other four centres are Zone 17, Akure, Police Hospital Akure; Zone 18, Yobe, Utral Modern Police Hospital, Gashua Road, Damaturu; Zone 19, Kaduna, Police College Clinic Kaduna; and Zone 20, Gusau, Police Secondary School Clinic Zaria Road Gusau.

According to Ikechukwu Ani, the commission’s spokesperson, the candidates who are required to undergo medical screening have already been notified about the specific dates and times for their screening.

Dr. Solomon Arase, the Chairman of the Commission and a retired Inspector General of Police, has expressed his hopes for a successful conclusion to the recruitment process.

Ani has advised the applicants to strictly adhere to the allocated dates and times, emphasizing that medical professionals have been carefully chosen to assess their medical condition, as it is a crucial requirement for recruitment.

Dr. Arase has further stated that successful applicants will be expected to report to designated police colleges for mandatory training.

The Chairman of the Police Recruitment Board is Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, who holds the position of Commissioner at the Police Service Commission. Assisting him in this role is DIG Frank Mbah, who is in charge of training. The Secretary of the Board is Deputy Commissioner of Police Bode Akinbamilowo, with support from Sanusi Yusuf, an Assistant Director at the Police Service Commission.

The Board consists of members from various organizations including the Police Service Commission, Nigeria Police Force, Ministry of Police Affairs, Federal Character Commission, Police Trust Fund, and Police Colleges.
