Breaking: Court Issues Fresh Arrest Order On Kogi Ex-gov Yahaya Bello

The embattled former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has been placed on a watchlist by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

Also, the police headquarters in Abuja has issued an order to withdraw all personnel assigned to the former governor.

On April 18, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) declared Bello wanted after he failed to appear in the federal high court in Abuja, causing a delay in his arraignment.

According to the anti-graft agency, Bello, along with Alli Bello, the chief of staff to Usman Ododo, the governor of Kogi, and Daudu Suleiman, allegedly diverted approximately N80.2 billion that belonged to the Kogi government.

In a statement signed by DS Umar, the assistant comptroller of immigration, on behalf of Kemi Nandap, comptroller-general of the NIS, the agency said “the above named person has been placed on watch list”.

“The subject is being prosecuted for breach of trust and money laundering. If seen at any entry or exit point, he should be arrested and referred to the Director of Investigation for further action.”

The EFCC lifted its siege on Bello’s residence in Abuja on April 17, following the arrival of Kogi governor Usman Ododo, who was later observed departing with his predecessor.

The Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Lateef Fagbemi, has since cautioned against impeding the EFCC in carrying out its responsibilities.
