There is currently tension in Oyo State as security operatives reportedly engaged some masked armed men suspected of being Yoruba Nation Agitators.

Reports indicated that the individuals invaded the Oyo State Secretariat with the intention of taking control of the House of Assembly Complex.

The House of Assembly is situated within the state secretariat and is just a short distance away from the governor’s office.

It was gathered that the agitators, dressed in military attire, arrived at the secretariat on Saturday morning in an attempt to seize the Assembly Complex. While at it, they reportedly engaged in a fierce gun battle with members of the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN), also known as Amotekun, as well as the Police and Operation Burst personnel, before being subdued.

Sources revealed that the suspects had initially occupied the assembly complex premises and raised their flag before the arrival of additional security forces.

As of the time of this report, the situation was said to be under control, with the presence of Police, Amotekun, and other security personnel.

Nation Post gathered that some of the agitators have been taken into custody.

Due to the incident, all roads leading to the secretariat have been deserted. This development comes after a previous incident where agitators took over a radio station in Ibadan a few months ago.

Efforts to contact the heads of security agencies in the state for comments on the matter have been unsuccessful at this time.

In May last year, individuals suspected to be Yoruba nation agitators seized control of Amuludun 99.1 FM Ibadan.
