FG Flags Off Distribution Of Food Commodities In Sokoto
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, on Monday confirmed the commencement of distribution of 42,000 metric tonnes of assorted food commodities to vulnerable Nigerians.
The Minister emphasized that the distribution of grains is a crucial part of the federal government’s comprehensive intervention program.
This program, he said, was aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by the people and stimulating sustainable development and prosperity for all citizens.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held at the Government House in Sokoto, the minister announced that 42,000 metric tonnes of food commodities were released from the National Strategic Food Reserve.
These essential supplies will be distributed to vulnerable Nigerians across the country.
The minister further highlighted President Tinubu’s concern regarding the escalating food prices and his determination to ensure that essential food items are both available and affordable to all Nigerians.
This, he said, is the reason behind the approval of the distribution of 42,000 metric tonnes of assorted grains, including sorghum, millet, and maize, as well as 60,000 metric tonnes of rice through millers.
He said the federal government was under no illusion that the President’s policy reform would be without some transitional pains.
Idris said: “The government calls for continued patience and understanding from Nigerians as we push through these difficult times into a season of abundant benefits and truly renewed Hope. As the President never fails to emphasize, these headwinds we face are only temporary, and we will surely overcome them.”
