Chess Master, Tunde Onakoya Returns To Nigeria After Guinness World Record Breakthrough
Tunde Onakoya, the founder of Chess-in-Slums, has returned to Nigeria after setting a new world record by completing a remarkable 60-hour chess marathon.
Upon his arrival back in Nigeria on Wednesday, he was warmly welcomed back with singing and dancing at the airport.
Nation Post reports that Onakoya surpassed the previous record set by Norwegian players, Hallvard Haug Flatebø and Sjur Ferkingstad, who played for 56 hours and 9 minutes in 2018.
The dedicated chess player mentioned that his goal was to raise funds and awareness to support educational opportunities for disadvantaged children throughout Africa.
