Bus Passenger Arrested With gun, Pos Machine In Edo
A 22-year-old individual, Francis Obinna Okoye, has been apprehended by the Monitoring Unit of Edo State Police Command for possession of a firearm.
Along with the firearm, a blue-coloured POS machine was also seized from the suspect.
Okoye, a resident of No 26, Jatto Street, Okolo, Lagos State, was taken into custody on 7 April 2024. According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the suspect was caught during a stop-and-search operation on the Lagos-Benin expressway near the Ovia river area.
He was intercepted while travelling in a commercial bus with passengers from Lagos state en route to Anambra state.
In his confession, the suspect claimed that an individual named Emma, whose last name is unknown, provided him with the firearm to intimidate his uncle, Paul Okoye, who was accused of murdering his father using charms.
However, upon further investigation, it was discovered that the suspect had misled the authorities when they took him to Lagos on Monday, 8 April 2024, to apprehend Mr Paul Okoye.
“The suspect will soon be processed to court,” the Edo Police Command spokesperson said.
