Explosion rocks Rivers APC

An explosion struck the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, early on Saturday, leaving a trail of destruction.

The blast, suspected to have been caused by dynamite, damaged buildings, shattered windows, and brought down the gate of the APC office located along Aba Road.

This marks the second time this year that the secretariat, led by Chief Tony Okocha, has faced such an attack.

The incident unfolded as Rivers State prepared to hold local government elections, with the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission confirming the distribution of sensitive materials to polling units on Friday.

Footage from the scene shows staff assessing the damage caused by the explosion.

At the time of reporting, the state police command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that no official report had been filed, though she promised to provide updates.

The APC has yet to issue a statement regarding the attack.

The situation casts a shadow over the polls, raising concerns about the security of the ongoing election process.
