Breaking: Soldier Slaps Civilian Into Coma At Banex Plaza In Abuja

One of the military personnel stationed at the busy Banex plaza in the Wuse 2 area of Abuja has reportedly caused a lady to fall into a coma after slapping her.

Nation Post understands that the popular plaza has been closed for four days following an incident where some soldiers were attacked by thugs after a dispute with a trader.

Daily Trust reported on Tuesday that a journalist present at the plaza today observed that soldiers had stopped the lady who was walking on a blocked-off road.

Upon questioning her, one of the soldiers struck her forcefully, leading to her collapse. The correspondent from Daily Trust observed as she was quickly placed in a van that swiftly left the area.

It remains uncertain whether she was being transported to a medical facility for treatment.

In the meantime, traders have been assessing their damages due to the military intervention, which they believe could have been resolved without resorting to a shutdown.

During a visit to the market on Tuesday afternoon, journalists noticed soldiers positioned throughout the plaza.

Lamenting the situation, Chibuzor Ike, a phone repairer at the plaza, said: “I am already counting losses. It doesn’t seem like they will leave anytime soon. We are pleading for the reopening of the place for business.”

The situation took a turn for the worse when a group of thugs attacked several soldiers who were involved in a dispute with a trader in the plaza.

According to reports, the trader had allegedly sold a faulty phone to someone who then sought the assistance of the soldiers. Instead of resolving the matter peacefully, the trader apparently called upon the thugs, who proceeded to assault the soldiers.

These thugs targeted at least two soldiers and another individual who was not in uniform. They formed groups and subjected the soldiers to slaps, kicks, and physical beatings.

Although the police intervened to try and resolve the situation, the soldiers later stormed the plaza, resulting in the immediate closure of the traders’ businesses.

Several videos circulating on social media depicted soldiers chasing after a crowd of people and punishing a select few.

As of the time this report is being written, the army has remained silent regarding the incident at the plaza, and Onyema Nwachukwu has made no official comment.
