BREAKING: Nationwide Blackout Looms As National Power Grid Collapses Again

Reports emerging on Monday morning indicated that Nigeria’s electricity grid has experienced yet another collapse.

Nation Post understands that the latest collapse occurred at approximately 2:42 am on Monday, resulting in a significant drop in generation to 64.70 megawatts.

Data from the Independent System Operator (ISO), a division of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, indicates that only one generation company, Ibom Power, was operational during this period.

Remarkably, this marks the sixth collapse of the grid in the year 2024.

As of 8 a.m. on Monday, the most recent ISO data revealed that the grid is currently generating 266.50 megawatts of electricity from Okpai, Geregu, and Ibom power plants.

Confirming the collapse in a statement made available to journalists, Jos DisCo said: “The current outage being experienced within our franchise States is a result of a loss of power supply from the national grid. The loss of power supply from the national grid occurred in the early hours of today, Monday, 15th April 2024, at about 0242 hours, hence the loss of power supply on all our feeders.”

However, the company’s head of Corporate Affairs, Dr Friday Adakole Elijah, is hopeful that the grid will be restored soon for normal power supply to its esteemed customers.
