Ex-Lawmaker, Senator Ayogu Eze Is Dead
Senator Ayogu Eze, who represented Enugu North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has reportedly passed away.
Nation Post understands that the deceased was born in 1958 and was 66 years old at the time of his death.
According to a source, Senator Eze, a former Senate spokesman, died in an Abuja hospital after battling a prolonged illness.
His health had deteriorated to the point where he was unable to attend his child’s wedding ceremony earlier in the year. Senator Eze was a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and later defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he contested for the Enugu State governorship election.
During his time in the Senate, he served as the chairman of the Senate Committee on Information and Media, assuming the role of the official spokesman for the Senate in 2007.
Following his reelection to the senate in 2011, he assumed the role of chairman for the committee on works.
Additionally, Eze actively participated as a member of committees on Police Affairs, National Planning, Marine Transport, and Federal Character & Inter-Government Affairs.
In May of the previous year, the Senate officially approved the appointment of Eze and five other individuals as Federal Commissioners for the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC.
