Cubana Chief Priest Pleads Not Guilty To Naira Abuse Charge
Cubana Chief Priest, whose real name is Pascal Okechukwu, pleaded not guilty to charges of tampering and abusing the naira during his arraignment at the Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday.
The charges against the socialite and businessman stemmed from his actions at a social event held at Eko Hotel on February 13, 2024.
The case was presided over by Justice Kehinde Ogundare of the Federal High Court, who accused Cubana Chief Priest of violating the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Act of 2007 by spraying N500 notes, which is prohibited.
He was alleged to have engaged in this act for two hours while dancing at the event.
Nation Post recently reported that Cubana Chief Priest was apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives in Lagos for alleged offences.
Subsequently, he was escorted to court under tight security and arrived around 8:45 am on Wednesday (today) for the trial.
Justice Kehinde Ogundare of the Federal High Court in Lagos is expected to deliver the verdict today on the three charges against Cubana Chiefpriest.
This development follows the recent sentencing of Bobrisky to six months in prison for comparable crimes.
