Cross River House Of Assembly Speaker Impeached
The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Elvert Ekom Ayambem, has faced impeachment by 17 members of the House during the plenary session held on Wednesday.
The allegations against him included misappropriation of funds. Effiom Ekarika, the representative of Calabar South 1 Constituency, initiated the impeachment motion, which was supported by Omang Charles Omang, the lawmaker representing Bekwarra State Constituency.
Nation Post reports that Ayambem assumed office as the Speaker of the 10th Cross River State House of Assembly in June 2023.
