Chad Goes to Poll After Years of Military Rule

After years and waves of military coup in Chad, it’s citizens are finally heading to the poll to vote a democratically elected President. This is coming after a temporary withdrawal of US military troop from Chad.

Nation Post confirmed the commencement of the Monday voting exercise. According to reports, the polls commenced at 7am with over 8.5milliom registered voters.

According to analysts, Mahamat Idriss Deby, the 39year old transitional President under United Chad Coalition is most likely to win.

Although a great opposition in the Chad elections is Succes Masra, an Economist schooled from Harvard and Oxford under the Transformers Party.

Other Candidates in the race includes, Albert Pahimi Padacke under the National Rally of Chadian Democrats, Alladoum Djarma Baltazar of Chadian Socialist Action Party for Renewal and Theophile Bongoro Bebzoune of Party for the Rally and Equity in Chad.

Also in the race is Lydie Beassemda of Party for Democracy and Independence, Mansiri Lopsekreo of Elites party (Les Élites), Brice Mbaimon Guedmbaye of Movement of Chadian Patriots for the Republic, Yacine Abdermane Sakine of Reformist Party and Nasra Djimasngar of New Day Party.
