ARTMA Official Shot Dead By Gunmen In Anambra

A tragic incident occurred in Awka, the state capital, as an official from the Anambra Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) was fatally shot.

Nation Post understands that this unfortunate event occurred shortly after another individual was killed by armed assailants at Aroma junction on Wednesday evening.

According to a source, the incident took place near a motor park where commuters transport passengers from Awka to Nnewi.

“The man who was killed is an ARTMA official. He stopped some people who were driving a Toyota Sienna vehicle with tinted glasses, and the people shot him and drove off.

“It happened just close to me as I was boarding a vehicle this morning to go to Nnewi,” Daily Post quoted the source saying.

Reports revealed that there have been cult-related killings in Awka since the last Easter celebration.

It was, however, not clear if Thursday morning’s incident was related to cultism.

No official statement, however, has been issued by the Anambra State Police Command regarding the latest incident as at the time this report was filed.
