Another Wike Loyalist, Isaac Kamalu Exits Fubara’s Cabinet
Not long after Zacchaeus Adangor, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Rivers State, resigned, another commissioner, Isaac Kamalu, also resigned from Governor Siminalayi Fubara‘s cabinet.
Similar to Adangor, Kamalu expressed his refusal to be redeployed from the Finance Ministry to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment in a letter to the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Tammy Danagogo.
Kamalu cited the ongoing lack of peace in Rivers State, despite the peace pact initiated by President Bola Tinubu last December. He stated that it would be impossible for him to perform at his best in an environment filled with discord.
On Tuesday, the governor of Rivers State carried out a minor reshuffle within the cabinet, resulting in Adangor being transferred to the Ministry of Special Duties (Governor’s Office) and Kamalu being moved to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment. The Rivers State Government has not provided any explanation for this redeployment.
It is worth noting that both commissioners, who are known supporters of former governor Nyesom Wike, had previously resigned from their positions in December due to the political crisis in the state and the strained relationship between Fubara and his predecessor, who currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
However, they were reinstated as part of a peace agreement initiated by President Bola Tinubu.
