ADC Convention: Bashir Vows to Champion Youth Rights As ADC National Youth Leader
Bashir Usman, a 36-year-old digital communications entrepreneur, has declared his intention to contest for the position of National Youth Leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In an open letter addressed to young members of the party, Usman described the forthcoming ADC convention as “the most important and consequential convention of our lifetime as youths of this great party.”
Usman, who leads the Bashir Usman Waziri Foundation, said his political experience spanning over a decade places him in a frontline position to represent young people’s interests at national level.
He says, “I am imperfect yet a passionate fighter for youth rights and inclusion”. Usman promised to launch several youth-focused initiatives if elected.
He noted his mandate will ensure a job opportunity drive aimed at securing priority access to employment for ADC youth members.
According to Usman, the creation of an ADC Young Women Wing is also a key component of his plan, thereby promoting the inclusion of young women in party leadership and governance.
Addressing police brutality, he pledged to establish a Law Enforcement Abuse Desk to handle reports of abuse against young Nigerians, working closely with police complaint units nationwide.
Usman further outlined plans to create a Youth Directorate within the ADC, to nurture leadership skills and promote youth participation at all party levels.
He said his manifesto, titled “Arise and Shine Nigeria Youth,” will soon be unveiled to provide a clear roadmap for his policies.
Highlighting the need for young people to mobilise ahead of the 2027 elections, Usman said: “Let us rededicate ourselves to marketing the ADC brand and securing victory once again.”
He called on young ADC members to engage their delegates and ensure their voices are heard during the upcoming convention.
