IGP Orders Promotion Of Over 10,000 Police Officers
The Inspector General of the Nigeria Police Force, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the promotion of 10,581 junior officers of the Inspectorate Cadre, and the Rank and File.
The Deputy Inspector-General of Police overseeing the Department of Finance and Administration (DIG DFA) has been assigned to work closely with the Commissioner of Police (Welfare) to promptly kickstart the promotion process.
According to a statement released on Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the promotions breakdown includes 9,831 Police Constables set to be promoted to the rank of Corporal, 81 Corporals to be promoted to the rank of Sergeant, and 669 officers to move up from the rank of Sergeant to Inspector.
The IGP stressed the commitment of the Force leadership to promoting a culture of meritocracy and career advancement, highlighting the importance of timely promotions in boosting officer morale and enhancing the overall effectiveness of the Force.
Egbetokun mentioned that this development is crucial in supporting the ongoing manpower development efforts of the Nigeria Police Force. He also assured that promotions within the Force will be based solely on merit, Nation Post reports.
Adejobi said: “The Nigeria Police Force extends its heartfelt congratulations to all officers slated for promotion and urges them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and service to the nation.”
