9 LASU Graduates Emerge Lagos High Court Judges
A total of nine former students from the Faculty of Law at Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos, have been selected as judges for the Lagos High Court.
Nation Post reports that the nine individuals were among the 13 judges who were recently chosen to serve on the Lagos State High Court.
The development was confirmed by the university through a post on its official social media account on Monday.
The university’s statement highlighted that this is the largest number of alumni appointed as judges simultaneously in the institution’s history.
The statement read, “The alumni include Hon. Justice Sunmonu Tunde Bashiru, Hon. Justice Alebiosu Olawale Lawal, Hon. Justice Anjorin-Ajose Tanimola Abdulwaheed, Hon. Justice Muyodeen Abdul-Raheem Tejumade, Hon. Justice George Alfred Akingbola, Hon. Justice Balogun Adegboyega Ganiu, Hon. Justice Badejo-Okusanya Yewande Jokotola, Hon. Justice Ojuromi Nalirat Olayinka Oluwatosin and Hon. Justice Adewale Russel Musiliu.
“The nine were part of the 13 judges recently appointed into the Lagos State High Court, a feat made more remarkable by the fact that the number is the highest ever recorded from the university at any given time in history.”
The Vice-Chancellor, Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, commended the new judges for their appointment to such a prestigious position, emphasizing that it was a result of their hard work, sacrifice, and dedication to the legal profession.
She highlighted the judges’ contributions to the Lagos State judiciary and credited their success to the strong foundation of excellence provided by the Faculty of Law at the university. Olatunji-Bello urged the judges to uphold integrity and serve with a sense of accountability in their new roles.
Additionally, in February, 10 graduates from the Faculty of Law achieved first-class degrees at the Nigerian Law School Bar Examinations.
